Hi there! My name is Heather and I live in the the valley of the sun (AZ!) with my favorite people- my husband of 12 years, my son Henry 9 and my daughter Piper 4. My other favorite person, my son Samuel, left this earth in September of 2007 and moved in with Jesus. He was born with an intestinal defect which caused him to contract bacterial meningitis. He was just 6 weeks old when he passed away. I thought for sure that my life was over the day he died, but God had other plans. He picked me up, covered me in His peace and filled my broken heart with hope. Life is HARD without my boy, there is no doubt about that, but I am able to walk through it because of God's love. He helps me find the beauty that lives in my life, loss and all.
[#2] What is your favorite part of the day with your little one[s]?
There are lots of little moments throughout each day that I love, but the one that stands out the most are morning snuggles. I love sipping my coffee while my sleepy kids cuddle up next to me on the couch. They tell me about the things they dreamt of and the things they are excited about for the new day ahead. I love running my fingers through their bed head filled hair while I listen to them chatter away.
[#3] Name Three Instagram MOMS who inspire you.
Sharing just three IG moms feels nearly impossible for me. There are just so many that inspire me, each in a different way!
Three mom's that inspire me and that I admire are Tara Whitney @tarawhitney for the way she shares the raw beauty of life, Jess McClenahan @jessmcclenahan for the way she shares her beautiful life after the loss of her daughter, and Elise Blaha Cripe @elisejoy for the way she captures everyday moments, in such a beautiful way.
[#4] What challenges have you faced in balancing motherhood and your passion for creativity?
Like so many stay at home moms, I run my little design business while my kids are sleeping or at school. I really love what I do though, so sometimes I find myself taking on a little too much for the few hours I have available to work. Thankfully, when that happens my husband, who is really supportive of my creativity, steps in to give me a little extra time.
[#5] What is a family tradition that you love sharing with your kids?
Traditions can be a little tricky without Samuel here to enjoy them with us, so over the past few years we've worked hard to create new traditions that allow his sweet spirit to be a part of our lives here on Earth. One of my favorites is spring flower planting. As soon as the weather is nice enough, we pile into the car and head to our favorite nursery to pick flowers for under the tree we planted for Samuel in our backyard. Then we come home and work together to fill his flower bed with beautiful bits is spring.
[#6] If you could give us a peek inside your home - what image would you share and why?
It's really important to me to make my home as comforting and inspiring as I can. The world can be a very complicated place when you are grieving, which is something we learned firsthand after loosing Samuel. That realization was all I needed to make it my mission to create a home that is a safe place to rest, but also a place that will lift our spirits. The world doesn't always know what to do with a mom whose son has died, or a boy whose brother lives in heaven, but in our home we do and we honor all of it.

Oh, and here's a little real life...my sink full of dishes from the morning, before I've even been able to put away the ones from the night before. I mean, it's not pretty, but it's an absolute blessing and for that I'm so very thankful.
